Foundations of CBT: The Thought-Feeling-Behaviour Triangle

Introduces the CBT model itself, for attendees new to the approach or wanting a refresher.

Registration is through Eventbrite, run by Practical CBT, Professor McGhee's training organisation.

The session

From the model to your practice

  1. The model
    • How thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and behaviour interact and maintain each other.
    • The difference between an automatic thought and a core belief, with worked everyday examples.
    • Why 'noticing' is the first skill in CBT, before any technique is introduced.
  2. Your questions, live. This is the part a recording cannot give you.
  3. In practice, in Flutura
    • A live walkthrough of the dashboard: client list, completion rates and active task tracking, showing how the model translates into a real caseload.
    • The library's worksheets, assessments and psychoeducation, filtered by condition.
    • How a client captures a thought-feeling-behaviour link in real time on their phone, rather than reconstructing it later on paper.

Learning outcomes

What you will leave with

  • A clear, jargon-free model you can explain to your own clients or students the same day.
  • How real-time capture, rather than end-of-day recall, improves the accuracy of client self-monitoring.
  • What a modern, structured CBT record-keeping system looks like in practice.
